
DIRECT CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Our Direct Civic Engagement focuses on strengthening accountability involving citizens and Local Government there by using ICT as right advocacy tools to promote access and actions that empowers vulnerable people, and influence policy in Health, Education, Democracy and Good Governance.
ICTs can boost citizens’ interest in democratic affairs and enable formerly excluded communities to engage in civil debates. It can increase the simplicity and quality of public participation allowing citizens to be better informed and voice their opinions.
DeGov Program seeks to increase and ensure government accountability to its citizens through a decentralized system of governance that strengthens the relationship between citizens and government. The institution uses civic education and ICTs tools to promote and strengthen citizens’ advocacy through a community score card process that would increase government transparency and accountability and boost information sharing for public participation in the decision-making process at the national and sub-national levels.
Strategic Objective: increase and sustain the democratic space in Liberia by leveraging the use of information communication and technology to provide citizens with the knowledge they need to hold their leaders accountable and to ensure their interests are properly represented.
Human Rights are rights inherited to all human-beings regardless of nationality, sex, religious, ethnic background, status etc. While Social Justice is the idea that everyone deserves equal economic, political, and social rights.
The Social Justice Program of YOTAN seeks to foster nonviolent communities and promote human rights. It works to advance access to justice for disadvantaged and marginalized children and young people in Liberia; encourages crime prevention among young people, promotes respect for human rights and human rights principles as the basis for peace and development. Advocate for the reduction of SGBV, SEA, etc.
Strategic Objective: To encourage and promote a just and equal society particularly for young people and disadvantaged and unprivileged citizens of Liberia.
We believe that health is a human right, a standard that applies to everyone. It ensure that people have “GOOD HEALTH”.
In determination to support the government in improving the six (6) health indicators (Under 5 mortality, Maternal Mortality, Neonatal Mortality, Immunization Rate, Fertility Rate, and the Unmet need for family planning),
our Health Program seeks to reduce the burden of disease and increase the understanding of health issues, support local communities and young people with information on improvements to health and hygiene through health education, social mobilization, awareness campaigns and counselling.
Strategic Objective: Promotes accountability in health and fight to improve the health and social well being of citizens by encouraging health seeking behavior among the population using both Social/Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) and Interpersonal Communication (IPC) through community outreach and peer education programs.
